This file lists known monit packages, their packagers and where to find
them. Some can be found mirrored to fsf.org.

Many packages listed here are individual contributions.
Please, don't expect those to stem from quality build control systems
as can be expected from your fave distributor. In doubt, please rebuild
them on your box.

That is not that easy!

a) As a Debian user you need to add

deb ftp://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/debian/ unstable main non-free contrib

to a fresh (if you dont wanna have always unstable package, p.s.
backup your old one!) /etc/apt/apt.conf and then you do

 apt-get install monit

 or do

 apt-get -t unstable install monit

if you have a multi-distro enabled apt-get configuration with "unstable"
 aka. "sid" already inside.

That how I would do it on my i386/sparc debian machines. I just
looked... it comes with a monitrc in /etc/monit/ and an appropriate
 /etc/init.d monit.

b) If you can't do a)... (that works around everything of Debian's
 packaging concept...)

 Look into...

 ftp://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/main/m/monit/

 there you find:

  monit_2.4-1.diff.gz
  monit_2.4-1.dsc
  monit_2.4-1_arm.deb
  monit_2.4.orig.tar.gz
  monit_2.5-1.diff.gz
  monit_2.5-1.dsc

I have a new version of the Solaris 7 package online. Unfortunately I had
to chage the link in order to add some data (Sorry, Leppo that you
have to change it again, I haven't thought of something permanent.):

http://www.iei.tu-clausthal.de/misc-stuff/admin-filez/monit/

There you find:
 monit-2.5-sol7-sparc-local.pkg.gz Solaris 7/Sparc package
monit-2.5-sol7-sparc-local.pkg.gz.md5 md5 sum of the package
 README.solaris guess what

It now includes also the README.solaris and an example of an init
script for monit under solaris.

I have attached the README file, init script and my package generation
script (it should work for most Solarises). Could please someone put
the stuff in the cvs for "contrib/packages/solaris/" .

Bye,

C.Hopp

Here's my contribution ;) Not just suggestions anymore..

http://www.saunalahti.fi/~mikpija/unix/monit/

Solaris 8 sparc and x86 packages. Both compiled with gcc with -O2 flags..

Few notes on x86 build..

I didnt find (lol, it can happen) any x86 machines i had working
compiler environment (basicly flex was missing) so i had to build the
binaries in "not-so-great-shape-customer-shellbox".

So, configure doesnt fail if yywrap aint found but if i build monit with
switch -ly instead of the suggested -lfl program compiles without any
warnings. Didnt test the actual binary to work at all so, if you have
x86 solaris, feel free to test it.. (i actually modified to configure
with added line "yacc*) ac_lib=y ;;" to yywrap test and commented out
totally the test to see if $LEX="flex".. And then, ran configure with
LEX=yacc .. So, is this a bug or just bad buildenvironment. Also, should
monit work with yacc ?
