'''The 99''' ([http://www.the99.org/ website], [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_99 Wikipedia]) is a new Arab comic strip put out by Teshkeel Comics, a Kuwaiti comics publisher that is making their own comics and translations of DC and Archie comics.  
It's origines are an effort to mobilize universal positive powers that can inspire youngsters and kids all over the planet.  Two the issues are being released under a non-commercial license, and a few of their characters are being released from copyright and trademark for children and others to use in their own comics.
