Kara no Kyoukai coming to the big screen
空の境界 (kara no kyoukai), the popular two-part novel by Kinoko Nasu set in the same universe as Tsukihime, is being made into a movie. TYPEMOON fanboys rejoice!
According to Moon Phase Zakki, the animation production is by ufotable, production is by Aniplex and a commemorative Kara no Kyoukai shopping bag will be given away at TYPEMOON’s C71 booth.

To be excited or to not be excited… well, it’ll be cool seeing Ryougi Shiki on the big screen, but I’m not going to get excited over yet another TYPE-MOON adaptation.

zOMfG.
Please make it a 2-hr movie with a LOT of cool effects and as close to the original novel as it can get.

Now if only I can get around to finishing the novel… each book is damn thick >_> Shiki ftw \o/

I look at it this way. It will be extreme. Either extremely good like Futakoi Alternative and 2×2=Shinobuden, or extremely wasted like Coyote Ragtime Show.
I pray for the former.

I’m really looking forward to it :D

Type-Moon adaptations tend to go awry. Also, is it just me or is the trailer not working?

FFenril.info » Kara no Kyoukai - Annonce d’un filmDecember 29th, 2006 at 1:12 am

Ah, so it’s some gay DRM ActiveX that only works in IE.
Anyway the trailer is lame. Don’t bother watching it. It’s just a few still illustrations from the novel with ugly text overlays and a BGM playing.

…which makes it unviewable on macs. Well, that sucks.

Sherman, the Ramni:”Please make it a 2-hr movie with a LOT of cool effects and as close to the original novel as it can get.”
If I were you I wouldn’t ask for that. It’s really long(2 books of ~500 pages, with only and image each chapter) and philosophical+it should be a dark theme so if they put too many cool effects it’d be bad. I want to see the Monster of the Blue Mage with cool effects though, that was my favorite part of the novels.
The only thing I don’t want them to do is turning Leo into a Smeagle type character, although he should be.
If they want to follow the story real close, it will have to be a 2 part movie of 2.5+ hours each, nahaha.

There’s no Kara no Kyoukai in English, so this and the drama CD (which I DO have) are my only way of getting an authentic experience. I’m really looking forward to this.

Try going to baka-tsuki’s translation project page. They have the first 3 chapters of KnK up in english.
