Maaya Sakamoto – Saigo no Kajitsu
As you may know, I am a huge Maaya Sakamoto fanboy. So you can believe me when I say that her recent songs had been quite disappointing ever since she parted ways with her composer and mentor Yoko Kanno.
Which is why Saigo no Kajitsu (The Last Fruit) is such a pleasant surprise for me. Not since Shounen Alice (2003) has there been any Maaya releases that excited me quite as much as this new single, which also happens to be the ending theme for Tsubasa Chronicles OVA, Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations.
And the best part? The postman finally brought me my copy today!
Tracklist:
- Saigo no Kajitsu さいごの果実
- Mitsubachi to Kagakusha ミツバチと科学者
- Saigo no Kajitsu (w/o Maaya)
- Mitsubachi to Kagakusha (wo Maaya)
- Saigo no Kajitsu (short size)
I translated Saigo no Kajitsu for the karaoke of a fansub release and I had been waiting for the full version since. (Well, it wasn’t that long ago.) I am so happy. T_T
You can find the full transliteration and translation of the lyrics at the usual place.

Please buy the single from Amazon if you like it!
Now as per policy, the CD shall remained shrink-wrapped forever, to be buried with me in my grave. Therefore, I don’t have any more pictures for you. (Go look for the scans yourself!) Instead, here’s a picture of the current state of my Maaya CD collection.
As it currently stands, excluding the CDs that are not released under her name (i.e. Whoops!!, OSTs, Yoko Kanno), I am just missing a few of her older singles. Mainly because they are in the old 80-mm CD-Mini format and I don’t like that. Well I guess I’ll get to them eventually…
And for some reason, there’s a ten-year-old album from Megumi Hayashibara in there too. Heh.

Yes, she sucks. Yoko Kanno’s best singer is whatshisname, Scott something.

Get off my blog!
November 23rd, 2007 at 11:19 pm
LoL! I thought you might have more

Man… looking at your collection, I really regret unwrapping my cds.

@tj: Go away Maaya hater.
@DM: Well you beat me to it. Though I just spent a bomb on the just-released Last Exile DVD box, guess I’ll get to add to my Maaya collection later.

And what’s Megumi’s album doing there? You trying to test us or something?
November 24th, 2007 at 12:05 am
She is an OKAY singer IMO. I prefer Miharu Arisawa.

Of course I have more…non-Maaya CDs. She only has 23 CDs under her name you know… Seven of them in the horribly elongated packaging used for 80mm CDs. Unless I want to go into those, the only CD I’m missing now is Mameshiba.
Of course I could start buying Napple Tale OSTs and stuff… But that’ll open a whole new can of worms considering all the misc OSTs she sang like 5 seconds worth of stuff for.

Actually, aren’t you missing the second singles collection, Necopachi, as well? (although, actually, I can see Mameshiba in that picture you posted?)
I’ve kind of fallen off the Maaya train since she split up with YK, so I’ve not got most of the recent singles. Maybe I’ll go order them. I do have one of the 8cm CDs though (Shippo no Uta, the Napples Tale OP).

Doggon it, when is parting ways from Yoko Kanno EVER a good idea?!
November 24th, 2007 at 7:07 am
Obviously Nicopachi metamorphosed into Megumi Hayashibara’s Iruvati due to the pressure exerted by that large stack of CDs.
November 24th, 2007 at 9:31 am
God. You have returned. Good for you, DM.
November 24th, 2007 at 10:38 am
Noone should EVER part ways with Yoko Kanno if you are lucky enough to be asked to work with her! :-)
November 24th, 2007 at 10:52 am
Oh lol. So I do have Mameshiba… I didn’t know that. And I do have Nikopachi. It’s just not in the picture for some reason. >_>

*is a Maaya fan herself*
I have to butt in to ask a veeeeery stupid question: if it’s unwrapped, how do you listen to it? o_O Buy 2 copies? (I sometimes do so why not)
November 24th, 2007 at 11:11 pm
wow thats a big collection of Maaya CDs! must have cost you a bomb!
November 25th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
By disappointing, you mean that elevator music she released shortly before (forgot the name, just remember the type of music it was)? Nikopachi was my favourite, what with Gravity and the Garden of Everything.
I’d like to listen to this, but I’ll wait for an album or something. Singles are a waste of plastic.

A few typos in your lyrics.
“As if it comes to live”- life
“僕が叫んでも 世界は何も言わすに背を向けた”-言わず

w00t! tnx for the fast romaji lyrics! :D

haha, I saw ryuko_hikaru’s comment – as a fellow member of the BeForU forum, I should agree with him but I seem to prefer Maaya’s voice more for some reason. I really loved her Kazemachi Jet, although a lot of my friends seemed to hate it. I just snagged Saigo no Kajitsu and have yet to listen to it.

how can you hate Maaya? huhu.
