You can’t really compare these 24 episodes of animation to SP or utawarerumono, considering that LotLH is based on a light novel that is still running. It’s true that little has been resolved, but that was similar to how the first LN series ended. What we get instead is a lot of character development and stage setting. It’s better to think of season 1 as foreshadowing for a very possible second season.

With the right expectations, LotLH is a really great series, certainly one of the better ones I have seen for a while.

There was plenty that DenYuuDen did wrong. There was little that it did right. But it still managed to keep people watching. Kind of incredible really.

And if there’s no second season, I will be so pissed.
