I call it obnoxious cause it costs $10 more than just the disc by itself, and unlike some of ADV’s generous offerings, which include tshirts, mugs, or PVC figures, this one was BARE! Even Hirameki gave art booklets with their Hourglass of Summer game release. It is definitely no bonus IMO. And 90% of what Japan does with their media wouldnt fly here; ie: $32 CDs and $50 DVDs with just two episodes.

They’re not classified as a boxset to begin with. You’re buying generally either vol. 1 or 2 of series with a collectors box so that you can buy make your own boxset as you collect the series. How is it being obnoxious giving a bonus to the fans who don’t want to wait for the boxset to eventually come out? It’s something the Japanese have been doing for a long time with their releases, and something ADV introduced in the US about four years ago in response to fans.
