So, instead of spending last night dong last minute revision for the Higher Chinese O’level paper which I just took a few hours ago, I decided that it was a futile struggle and translated the OP of Sumomo mo Momo mo<\/strong> instead. This song has the coolest lyrics that I have ever seen. Seriously.<\/p>\n

But before that, I just want to add a note about Sumomo mo Momo mo’s title. \u00e6\u009d\u017d (sumomo<\/em>) means “plum”, \u00e6\u00a1\u0192 (momo<\/em>) means peach and particle “mo<\/em>” means “also” or “too”.<\/p>\n

The title is actually derived from a popular Japanese tongue-twister \u00e3\u20ac\u0152\u00e6\u009d\u017d\u00e3\u201a\u201a\u00e6\u00a1\u0192\u00e3\u201a\u201a\u00e6\u00a1\u0192\u00e3\u0081\u00ae\u00e5\u2020\u2026\u00e3\u20ac\u008d (“sumomo mo momo mo momo no uchi<\/em>“), literally, “Plums too, peaches too, they are in peaches”, or to put it in English, “Plums and peaches are both part of the peach family.”<\/p>\n

Yeah, the title of the anime is not actually nonsense. Shock! As to what plums and peaches imply in Japanese, I’m not really certain. The song seems to use them as metaphors of child-bearing\/pregnancy, I think? Or maybe chastity. Whatever.<\/p>\n
