Now four years later, Tokyo-3 has been rebuilt both above and below ground and the university has grown in size and Professor Fuyutsuki has become the head. He is the head of another project as well, one that deals with the restoration of the world. Progress on that particular project has progressed nicely, since ice thick enough to build a small town on was discovered at the South Pole. The man currently resides in his office today in a meeting with Commander Misato Katsuragi who is relaying the latest info.

"Professor, according to the findings Maya Ibuki has sent back to me on the ice, the molecular structure is that of salt water and something they have yet to identify. I asked her to have a core sample ran on the center of the island just in case this is from the beach area only. The fact that the island exists is remarkable in itself!"

"Commander, you know that that water had changed over after Adam destroyed the continent. No one has really tested out the impact that Adam caused on the water for a long time, so we have nothing to go on as a reference. But the appearance of the island does concern me somewhat, the last time I visited the area nothing solid existed of that size."

"The U.N. does not know about the latest findings yet. I decided to see what you said first and if it warranted concern. You know a bit more than me here, so do you think we are in danger?"

"I am not sure yet, we need to see what Maya tur..."

They are both interrupted as the phone rings in the spacious office. Fuyutsuki had asked that only emergency calls be placed during this time, so he quickly reaches for the receiver and answers, "Hello? Commander Katsuragi is here Maya, what is wrong? What? When did this happen? Is everyone all right? Okay, evacuate the site and return here to Tokyo-3 immediately. Consider this a Class-A situation from this point on! Maya? Maya?!" He notices the line has gone dead on the other end as the call ends and turns to Misato, "Commander, the ice has started to crack apart. Maya is evacuating everyone present right now and hopefully will be on her way so..." Yet another interruption occurs as the doors swing open to the office and a person enters.

"Sir, the MAGI just turned on!"

"Miss Soryu, are you sure? The MAGI self-destructed its cores a few years ago."

"Quite sure, it just started up sudden..."

She doesn't get to finish as a loud alarm begins to sound in the complex right before Misato and Asuka drop to the floor unconscious.

"This can't be good..."

//"Misato, Asuka, the time is nearing for a catastrophic situation to occur. You must assemble NERV once again before it awakens."

"Kei Ikari?" asks Asuka, "What are you doing?"

//"Asuka, you will find out very soon what I am talking about, I am not able to explain it to you, only alert you to the situation that has yet to occur."

"Kei, I don't understand, what is at the South Pole?" asks Misato.

//"The one thing left behind by Adam."

After calling for a medical team to come and bring the Commander and Asuka to the hospital, Fuyutsuki has headed down to the basement level of the university to retrieve a book, known only to a few people to still exist after the renovation occurred. The book is said to contain the effects of an awakening of an angel would have and what would happen for each angel that it occurred to. As he sets the book on the table he hears a voice behind him.

"Sensai, you should know what this is."

The Professor slowly turns and sees a boy standing in the room, "Who are you?"

"Kaworu Nagisa, also known as Tabris in scripture."

"The Seventeenth angel?"

"Yes. You know what is happening, don't you?"

"I do, but I wasn't sure it would happen until today."

"It is awakening...you must now prepare. Failure to do so will result in the end."

"But we have little left to fight with. How can we prepare?"

"Not all is gone. You forget Ikari's failed plan, and the effects of two."

"I understand."

Far away from the equator, a small ship has quickly pulled away from an island of ice that has begun to fall apart. The crew aboard consists of all the people from the research team. Several minutes ago they had received orders to evacuate quickly and began tossing what equipment they could onto the deck, to be packed after they got away. Maya, the current leader, had been present when they were drilling the ice itself right, before a sharp tremor rocked everything, she remembers the panic that resulted once the cracks started to appear, where a drill still remained in the ice before a hole formed, and the cracks got bigger. She had remained calm, considering she saw the ice only millimeters in front of her drop away, and a dull roar made itself known. Now, away from the chaos happening in the distance, she watches the water and the light in the distance grow stronger. The rest of her team had run to the safety of below deck where if anything happened they assumed they would be safe. But Maya had chosen to stay up top where she could watch the light show, little did she know the light show was about to turn interesting and deadly.

A bright flash is all she sees before the waves grow larger and begin pounding the sides of the ship. In the sky a large object soars in the direction of the boat and slams into the deck at sonic speed, making a large hole in its wake. People that used to be below deck hurry up, yelling and screaming about the -ship is sinking-. Maya had no idea she would ever be facing hell once more, similar to that she had seen at NERV long ago. Seconds later another object slams into the deck close by and sends her flying over the railing.

An hour later, Shinji and Kensuke wait in the room that Misato and Asuka reside in while they remain unconscious.

"Shinji, I am worried, Asuka and I were present when the MAGI just turned on...yet she and I had determined that it would never function like this again..."

"Kensuke, I don't know what to say about that, but I do know that this situation worries me as well. Kei started yelling out something strange a short while ago...and Rei seemed to understand..."

"What was she saying?"

"She...kept yelling out...It's nearing. Rei seemed to know what Kei meant...but when I asked, she said it was nothing to worry about yet."

Kensuke sighs and walks up to Asuka's bed, "Asuka-chan...what is wrong?"

Shinji notices the concerned tone in his voice and stops behind him, "Kensuke, maybe you should leave for a while, get something to eat..."

"Shinji, I can't just leave my fiancée's side...she needs me during a time like this!"

"I know...but I also know that she wouldn't want to see you like this right now...I will stay here with her and call you if anything changes."

"Ever since I asked her to be mine a year ago...I have done everything I could to keep her from going through this pain again."

"I still can't believe she said yes."

"Neither can I, yet she did..."

"Well, like Toji once said, good luck in taming her."

"Shinji, Asuka has finally calmed down, she told me that after saying yes...because she knows Eva is gone, and it was that which kept her wild..."

"She hasn't totally lost it yet. It's awakening."

Both boys turn around and see Fuyutsuki entering the room. Shinji remembers what Kei had said before and starts to press the issue.

"Sir, what is coming?"

"You will be told soon enough, but first I must wait for the rescue teams to bring Doctor Maya Ibuki here and for these two ladies to awaken...speaking of which."

Everyone turns to see Misato and Asuka stir awake.

"P...professor? What is going on?""

"Commander, you will find out..."

"Kei mentioned something about It is coming or nearing?"

Shinji is totally surprised to hear that Kei is using her abilities again, "Asuka, did you see Kei too?"

"Shinji, she knows something."

Minutes later, Shinji has arrived home and sees Osamu watching television with Kei in their playroom and Rei sitting at a table.

"Rei, is everything okay?"

"Shinji, I am not sure. Kei seems to sense something is not right...and so do I."

"What do you sense is wrong?"

"Shinji, I get the impression that not all of the angels are gone."

"But Kaworu said they were."

"Did he?"

"We defeated all of them. Didn't we?"

"I hope so, for if they are not, we have no way of destroying them."

Shinji sighs and looks at Kei, "She visited Asuka and Misato today."

"How...she put them to sleep?"

"I think so, but they said It's coming, and so did Professor Fuyutsuki."

"Shinji, she might be right...I wish I knew what It was though."

The ground begins to shake seconds later, causing stuff to fall over in the house.

"Rei, I don't think It will want to be our friend."

Several minutes later, the Ikari family has hurried into Tokyo-3 University after receiving a call from Fuyutsuki alerting them to a meeting. When they arrive at his office they see first hand the graveness of the situation by the look on Fuyutsuki's face. Shinji and Rei find some chairs for Osamu and Kei and in turn decide to stand for the meeting.

"Misato, what is going on?"

"Shinji, we don't have much time left before catastrophe occurs. Professor Fuyutsuki has discovered some interesting info in the basement and is about to go over it."

"Thank you Commander. Everyone, for the past five years we have been angel free, Rei and Shinji here along with Asuka and Kei helped to make sure of that. Not every angel was disposed of, the Second Angel was never fought. I have withheld this information because I was not sure if this would even happen, but the recent events have proven that It still exists...and has awoken. Mister Kensuke here has looked at the MAGI's records and discovered information on it."

"Sir, I found out that the moment the angel started moving it triggered a series of events, thus why the MAGI turned itself on. The second angel appears to be like the others except it has been in hibernation after spawning off the Seventeenth angel, Tabris."

Everyone hears a thud as Shinji hits the floor.

"Shinji?!"

Rei quickly kneels down to her husband's side and looks at him.

"Rei, you go with him to the hospital, I will watch your children."

"Thanks, Asuka."

Several hours go by as Shinji remains passed out. In his dream world, he sits in a chair reflecting upon his life over the past few years...until a figure appears in front of him, a familiar one from when he was still a pilot.

"Kaworu?"

"Shinji, you are about to return to what you thought was over."

"I don't understand?"

"Kei knows what it is already, for she has a special link like Rei does."

"Link?"

"In time, you will understand. For now, all you need to know is that this angel is apart of my past, and is nothing like what you have fought before. I wish I was able to help you defeat this new angel, but I am unable to stay away much longer. Just remember that this angel is the key to my past, you may discover things you will dislike about me. Be careful, Shinji Ikari."

"Kaworu, what are you talking about?"

But Shinji's question goes unanswered as the figure in front of him fades away.

"Kaworu?"

Shinji's vision blurs moments before he wakes up with Rei leaning other him, "Your awake."

"Wha?"

"You passed out at the end of the meeting hours ago. Asuka is watching our children while I am here."

"Kaworu...he spoke to me..."

"What did he say?"

"That...he wants to help, but can't...and that his past is the key..."

"Do you miss him?"

"A little..."

"Why?"

"Well...he did save you, and Kei...

"He did it because of you."

"He also said one other thing...that Kei has a link?"

Rei stumbles back a bit before finding a chair to sit in, "So...she knows..."

"Knows what?"

Rei takes a few deep breathes before she starts, "Shinji, You remember where part of me came from?"

"You are made up of what was left of my mother and Lilith...why?"

"It was believed by many that she was the second angel. She is the mother of all life...the real one never attacked NERV the first time around...but now...it has awoken..."

"Awoken?"

"I am not sure how to explain it...but I can feel its energy...and I guess Kei can as well..."

"Rei, I think it is time we get more info on Kei's abilities, I am sure Hikari will be able to help with medical records."

[Second Angel - Unnamed

Date Of Appearance - 2020/5/14

Nature of Angel - Unknown

Information concerning this angel is sketchy at best, One thing that is known is Tabris was formed from this angel, the history of both the Second and Seventeenth is unknown at this time. Further notes will be added as needed.]

"Asuka, this angel is a total mystery, I can't locate anything besides this small file from five years ago."

"Kensuke, I have a feeling there is more than you see, but due to the extent of the damage it is going to take weeks to get full access to one MAGI let alone three."

Kensuke continues searching for useful files concerning angels with the new super computer system built for the university about two years ago, the exact system Asuka and Kensuke designed the core for after they signed up for the project. They based it off the original MAGI's system that very few knew about during the months NERV existed. The MAGI itself was still kept at the university for research purposes, and by the looks of it that was a wise idea.

"Well dear, I have gone as far as I can in its currents state..."

"Man, I thought you could hack into anything."

Both Kensuke and Asuka jump and turn around to see Hikari and Toji in the doorway.

"TOJI! How are you and Hikari doing?!"

"Kensuke, things have been going well, except for when we got news to come back right away, something I still don't get, why!?"

"Asuka, how about we take a break."

She nods at this idea and she, along with Hikari, head off on their own so Toji and Kensuke can go over the past few hours.

"Toji, sorry you were pulled away from a vacation, but...they are back..."

"Who is?"

"The Angels, only this time we have very little info on it and there is only one...that may be able to spawn more, Asuka and I can neither confirm nor deny it, all we know is the Seventeenth angel was created by it."

"So what are we supposed to do about it?"

"The professor and commander are apparently speaking with the UN, but to tell you the truth, I am worried...Eva is gone..."

"The UN will figure something out...Hey Kensuke, what does Alert mean?

"On what scre...my god..."

The pair looks around the room at the monitors and sees they all say the same thing for some reason

[ALERT]

[NERV-02 HAS BEEN DETECTED IN NEVADA, USA]

Kensuke continues to stare at the screens as they continue to flash the same message over and over again.

"Eva has returned..."

Notes:

As you can see, this is a continuation. I found out that I left too much unanswered in the last story line, so I have decided to continue it. But only with a co-writer this time. The co-writer will be doing the parts concerning Kaworu's past and how it will effect the present. I thought having the topic of the Second Angel brought up might be a nice idea, and promoting Misato was a nice touch as well.

Really not much to discuss right now, this is the start of a new story-line so notes will be scarce, If I find Pre-readers then it will be a blessing, ones that will not blow me off would be a really nice thing. Anyhow, I hope you have enjoyed this new start, questions will begin next chapter.
