The three-day long holy celebration of otakuism that is the Winter Comic Market came to a close yesterday. This is my second Comiket, and probably the last one in a long time. I am still in Japan right now, so I may not have time to blog about the last three days in greater details until I get back, but here are the cosplay photos for now.
I did not take any pictures of the event other than the cosplay this time. However, since Comiket mostly consists of the same old huge crowds and long queues, you can take a look at last year’s pictures for that purpose.
I have to say that with the freshness gone, Comiket is basically one huge shopping experience — extremely chaotic and yet simultaneously subtle compared to a real anime convention loaded with constant entertainment and shiny objects. That said, the cosplay never gets old.
The good thing about Winter Comiket is that the stench of bodily fluids is minimal and queuing for two to three hours to get your hands on a few pages of hardcore pornography is probably a whole lot more bearable than in summer (or so I imagine). The bad thing is that cosplay pictures look like crap because the sun is always at an inconvenient angle.
Of course I could easily solve this problem by investing in a proper external flash for my DSLR, but I prefer to blame the climate and planetary alignments when things go wrong. (Also, solar flares wiped my hard disk.)
Since whining doesn’t solve my problem, mostly due to the unsympathetic laws of physics, you guys will just have to deal with the unfortunate fact that a great number of cosplayers appearing in this post have empty voids of pitch darkness in place of their eyes.
I’m sure you are terribly annoyed by my constant monologue interrupting the flow of pictures, so I shall stop. Enjoy.
Actually it’s quite amazing how Japanese girls seem to be immune to the winter chill. Oh right, sorry. I’ll shut up now.
The next post will be out some time next year. In the mean time, you can check out my C73 coverage from last year. It’s about the same.
On another note, during the time it took for me to queue for various reasons during three days of Comiket, I collected all eleven Crystals in Dissidia. Japan is the undisputed global leader when it comes to forming and managing long queues.
Whowww how
it so fantastic i really want to go to Japan :)
These people dressing as code geass, Gundam Seed Destiny and 00 :)
#$%$##@#$$ text interrupting my fapping
Your body parts just get accustomed to the cold after being bared for a sufficient amount of time. Trust me on this, I speak from experience.
Fail angle of Haruhi >_>
“The good thing about Winter Comiket is that the stench of bodily fluids is minimal and queuing for two to three hours to get your hands on a few pages of hardcore pornography is probably a whole lot more bearable than in summer (or so I imagine).”
You imagined right. Have a cookie.
Yeah, it was pretty bad in the summer. Luckily, there were lots of ad fans. Yay ad fans.
that Zero mask is awesome.
it’s sad to come back from Japan without going to comiket
Thanks for the report and the pictures. ;-)
The cosplay area now seems to be on the first floor instead of that 2nd floor area that overlooks the bay and the inverted triangle/pillar building. When this change? But I suppose you’re not snapping picks for the background.
I like the pictures with the girls in the long dresses (Shinku, Suigintou, black neko mimi, pink/red dress). Less imperfection to look at.
Also not a lot of head-on pics, what’s up with that. :-/
Yes they moved the cosplay area to the carpark behind the commercial hall. This was not the case for C73, but I have no idea about C74. The old cosplay area now holds even more queues for the commercial section, which makes sense. However, the new cosplay area is only marginally larger and still super crowded.
Also, there are now two queues to enter the event in the morning, one for East halls (carpark being East 3 and 6) and one for West halls (the usual clearing in front of the inverted-pyramid top-secret JSDF mecha headquarters thingy)
As for why there are few head-on pics… Maybe cosplayers hate me. D: Also, I can’t be bother to manuveur to a good location when there’s a huge crowd. The only head-on pics are the ones I personally requested for.
If you have time why don’t you go out to Nikko and try Yabusame?

lol Dissidia, It roughly takes around 30 minutes a crystal so that must have taken long XD. Tho theres still a whole lot more of story lines after that… I Personally have played for 62 hours so far….Im srsly addicted and impressed with Dissidia :D
To much macross and haruhi i must say. But still great. Hope u can show all your loot u got while in japan.
Anyway HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
haha, I don’t suppose there were too many Saber Lily cosplays? =P
Ah, I can’t imagine what it’s like to be there. I try to cover as much comiket as humanely possible from the internet side of things. Hawking 3-5 filesharing options and websites – dealing with the fakes – getting first hands on things uploaded to the net…
But I would kill for a non-fake Nanoha doujin.
happy new year!
/me wants the touhou anime project dvd T_T
For some reason I think that Lloyd cosplay is awesome.
After watching the F/SN AV, any Saber cosplay looks good to me
And I thought I had photographed most of the cosplayers; yet I think every single one you took are of cosplayers that were not in my photos. Makes you realize just how many there are…
Around what time where these taken?
Nice…
I wanted to go to Comiket 75 sadly I can’t go for this one…
I can go for Comiket 76 though…
Comiket…there is always a ton of cool cosplayers and somehow the cosplay square keeps moving from place to place everyday when I went…
That wasn’t a half bad monologue actually :P
But anyhow, you had me at Reisen.
That Miku is a trap!
Really enjoyed some of the cosplayers!! and I could not stop laughing when I read GNdynames’ comment haha.
Wow, nice pictures :D
But one think i can’t understand… how are those girls able to stand there all the time and pose for hours almost half-naked while everybody just wear warm winter coats? O_o Amazing! :D
BTW.: Temperature here in Prague: -12°C. Really chilly :D
I’m envious of your experience! It looks like it was a lot of fun! I haven’t been to any convention like that. There was a job fair here in Singapore I passed through though, that had some girls dressed up at one of the booths. I thought it was awesome! Here’s a link to the pic:

They were trying to sell an online game, but I was only interested in the photo. My wife took the picture… probably the only reason they let me. Otherwise I might have fallen into that creepy white guy area…
Hey, sorry. The link on the above broke. In a fit of rage I decided to stop using Photobucket. I would edit the post if I could. New link: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/9Ac7y1UsRCBjEDmm4bRj0w?authkey=eOyA5f4n4vo&feat=directlink
Are these photos from day 2 to comiket? I was there too, but I did not take any good pics T_T
How I wish I could have gone… but no money somemore i’m juz a 19 yr old teen… juz have to wait till after army days… sianz… anyways thanks for all the cosplay pics of comiket 75

I of course, there is little that understood in this topic, but try to understand.
I almost accidentally went to this site, but stay here for long. Delayed, because everything is very interesting. Be sure to tell you about all your friends.
