Here’s an update to the announcement for the upcoming anime adaptation of School Days. While it is not stated on the image, it appears, judging the from lighting and layout, to have been taken during the Tokyo Anime Fair 2007 which just ended on Sunday.
The series will start airing in July on Chiba TV and will contain a total of 13 episodes.

Series Composition / Script: Makoto Uezu (Utawarerumono, Ah! My Goddess S2, Amaenaideyo!! S2)

Nothing unexpected, though I can’t say that the staff list so far instills much confidence. Well, I guess it will probably be fine if they remain faithful to the game…

According to the above line from Moon Phase Zakki, it is still not confirmed whether the ending will follow one of the paths from the game or a original anime path. But apparently, it will be a bad ending. (WTF? I hope it’s just rumours.)

Hmm.. wasn’t that “1st episode” a subtitled version of game beginning (i.e. the output from game was placed into a file with subtitles, imitating a normal anime episode)?

School days without violence won’t be as legendary, but it’s going to be difficult to replicate the successes of
1) splat* at building
2) stabbing against sunset backdrop
3) meeting on overhead bridge with saw,
which in all cases depict violent death. So far I don’t think there is any show out there deliberately showing death seriously without a “forced into circumstances” theme like war and sparring.
13 eps are strongly not in favour of the harem ending -_-

I would prefer they create either their own anime ending.
If the follow the nice endings, it might seem(depending on the the execution of the plot) that it’s too stupid.
If the follow the violent endings, it would be too predictable(for those who have played the game). It would also be too predictable for those who have read about the endings.
I hope it will a harem style sekai, kotonoha, setsuna, kokoro, otome, hikari, et etc with no one girl in the ending..hopefully there would be some humour too.

Episode 1 released by Paikia-fansub was just the demo for the game, basically a slightly-condensed version of the first chapter. I was the translator. LOL.

An anime made path could work, depending on if they stick to most of the game events (yeah, a cross between both). Though its the ending that i’m more interested with.
Can’t wait for this one — looking to be one of the main 2007 shows for me.

My only hope is that the anime doesn’t take up the same whopping 7GB of space needed for the game… You won’t believe how long it took for me to get a link, before finally deciding to cancel the whole idea altogether after downloading component number 20 (cos there was so much more to go).
