“Uninstall” by Chiaki Ishikawa is the awesome opening of Bokurano. Chiaki is the vocal half of the popular duo See-Saw (the other half being Yuki Kajiura). Although her voice is superb, most of her songs outside of See-Saw have been at best above average. So it comes as quite a surprise that Uninstall managed to pull it off without Yuuka’s composing.
[audio:uninstall.mp3]I wanted to order the first press but both Amazon and Neowing ran out… :( You can still get the regular edition, though.
Read on for the lyrics.

Chiaki Ishikawa
It came from beyond the extreme reaches of our reality,
It came to laugh at our naive existences.
I am puzzled by the truth that slips through my hands even as I cover my ears.
Where in this thin body do I find the strength to stand?
Uninstall, uninstall.
I was told that I am just one of the countless specks of dust on this planet,
But that is something I cannot yet comprehend.
Uninstall, uninstall.
I have no choice but to pretend that
I am a warrior who knows no fear. Uninstall.
Our subconscious grows sharper without us realizing.
When I open my eyes to the contourless presence below my bed,
I am devoid of any feelings,
Except an impulse to destroy everything and anything.
Since I can’t even choose the season of my passing…
Uninstall, uninstall.
If there’s no one left to replace me,
Then I will take that regular daily life and
Uninstall, uninstall.
It makes me want to end everything with these hands.
It’s not a bad thing to uninstall.
Uninstall, uninstall.
I was told that I am just one of the countless specks of dust on this planet,
But that is something I cannot yet comprehend.
Uninstall, uninstall.
I have no choice but to pretend that
I am a warrior who knows no fear. Uninstall.

I must say that the lyrics fit the story of Bokurano quite well.
I agree, the lyrics are great! However, I think you mistranslated a couple of lines (lines particularly pertinent to the story, I might add):
æれを知らãªã„戦士ã®ã‚ˆã†ã«
振る舞ã†ã—ã‹ãªã„ アンインストール
Should be:
I have no choice but to act
as if I were a fearless warrior. Uninstall
Personally I think these are the best two lines in the song, as when Chiaki sings the first line, it gives the listener the expectation that the next word will be 戦ã†, but it ends up as 振舞ã†, indicating that in spite of the expectations placed on them, the children are unable to be fearless warriors.
By the way:
é™ã‹ã«æ¶ˆãˆã¦è¡Œãå£ç¯€ã‚‚é¸ã¹ãªã„ã¨ã„ã†ã®ãªã‚‰->
If I can’t even choose the season of my quiet passing
i.e. the singer is frustrated at her lack of control over the time of her death.
It’s a superb song and easily the best opening of this season. It’s too bad I won’t be at AX to hear Ishikawa sing it.
It sounds like a sad puppy fighting spamware on his/her plagued windows PC.
I like the song like everyone else, but I still can’t get over the choice of engrish here.
And I think Ishikawa’s other songs are notably above average on the whole. Especially if you consider she also writes her own stuff, including this one. She’s just not a mass-pandering ho like Kajiura ;)
she has sounds similar to Yoko Kanno. But somewhere, she loses to her. But overall, they both are goddess. Lol..some many buts.. :P
Changed. Meh I thought the seasons thing was a bit weird.

Nice song nice Translations 10x for it :)
Ah, thank you so much for the translation. I translated part of it myself, and it ended up completely different. XD
That’s some neat translation. =D
Nice song but somehow I like Little Bird a little more than Uninstall. Please translate Little Bird too.
its crazy enuf if neither amazon or neowing outofstock first press
considering the cd just start sell yesterday
anyway i cant find first press edition image neither on official site or amazon/neowing… what the different btw ?
just packaging different ?
I’m not sure what’s the special bonus. Anyway CD Japan and Amazon ran out off first presses months ago because they take preorders.
And BTW yes, I am posting from China right now.
wow……in the process to watching this anime series now…
She looks quite different from what I last recall from the See-Saw days…..and it’s Yuki not Yuuka.. you probably referring to Yuuka Nanri the seiyuu >_>
The single also contains the ED which is an awesome song as well imo
One hell of a single.

There are two mistakes in the romaji lyrics (I checked both the kanji version and listened to the song while reading to be sure):
“bokura no sonzai wa konna ni tanjun…”
should be “bokura no sonzai wa konna ni mo tanjun…”
You can see it clearly in the Kanji version:
“僕らã®å˜åœ¨ã¯ã“ã‚“ãªã«ã‚‚” there, the last two kana are “ni mo”
And then in the second chorus…
“bokura no kawari ga inai nara”
should be “boku no kawari ga inai nara”
In the Kanji version: “僕ã®ä»£ã‚ã‚Š” Boku no kawari, not “僕ら” Bokura.
That’s all. Thanks for the lyrics though!
