“New Evangelion Theatrical Version” will be a 4-part project.
According to previous leaks, it was thought that the new project consisted of 3 summary movies of the TV series and 1 new movie, but now it turns out that all 4 movies will be new productions. Also, the movies are neither sequels nor remakes. We had previously thought that those leaks were faked, but apparently there really are going to be 4 new movies…

So it seems like we are getting 4 new Eva movies that are neither sequel nor remakes… Hmmm… I guess we just have to wait for Newtype October, though Moon Phase is pretty reliable so there’s a pretty good chance that it’s true. Also, Hideaki Anno will once again be in charge, for good or for bad.
Yay! Now we can look forward to 10 more years of Evangelion merchandise! (Okay, so it was going to happen any way)
UPDATE: Just want to add that the first movie will be out Summer 2007, about one year from now.

I can beat that at least two of those movies will be based on the Girlfriend of Steel (Iron Maiden 1-2) games based on the relationship with Shinji and Mana and the “Toast” world of an spunky Rei and the childhood friend Asuka….and not surprised if the other possible project for that could be a movie based on the Raising Ayanami Project game….0_o….I just cant think in a new story based on Evangelion….if it is not a sequel (a post 3rd impact story) who knows what the scriptwriters will do….
well, I am just happy that at least Gainax will do something “good” with this, instead of just only selling merchandise when the fans demands new movies or videos…cross fingers….
Well, I don’t think it will have anything to do with Girlfriend of Steel. After all, it’s Anno Hideaki.
I think I missed out translating a detail. All four movies will be set in a continuous storyline.
So yeah, hard to imagine what they are planning.
That said, I personally find Mana Kirishima to be the best Eva girl ever! I won’t mind a movie with her as the main heroine… ;)
So they are milking this cash cow again.
Cries can be heard at the Gainax HQ: “C’mon dead horse! I’m beating your fat ass here! Spew out more cash! MORE CASH! You’re our only profitable merchandise left! CAAAAAAASHHHH~H~H~~~~”
and after that they will release the DVD Uncensored version, Director’s Cut version, Platinum Version…At least it’s not rehash.

Wow…what ever happened to the American Eva Live-Action? That was like…my major hopes of a new Eva or anything new of Eva to come out to watch. This is even better though. Now I don’t have to rely on people who did LOTR to do a live-action on an anime that they don’t really have a true understanding about. The interview with that studio was pretty bad in my opinion….oh well. I can’t wait till 2007 now. My question is…will the movie be based off the Girlfriend of Steel franchise…or a totally new story with new characters….The perspective from Adam *even though he’s sucking it up being implanted in Gendou’s hand* Oh well…Hopefully Gainax is surely working on it and will make a giant mind-fuck anime that will get me so into it that I will just lose track of reality =D

yo no stoy de acuerdo en que hagan una pelicula de Evangelion y la americanisen porq me parece ridicula la idea de que en lugar de ser Angeles con los que luchen, sean extraterrestres, es realmente estúpido pensar que esa es la idea para realizar la pelicula en Live Action, espero que puedan hacer algo para cambiar a la tematica original de la serie.
