I will be in Tokyo from Dec 24th to Jan 2nd. This is my fourth trip to Japan and the main objective is of course the Winter Comiket (29th to 31st). Preparations for the trip is almost done; all that’s left is the packing. Look forward to some C73 coverage on this blog soon!
I have not yet decided on how to spend the rest of the days, but Akihabara is definitely in the itinerary. Possibly Nakano too. I will probably spend at least one or two days going to some weird and hilarious destinations but it’s all top secret kinsoku jikou until (and if) it actually happens.
And of course, I am looking forward to meeting some familiar folks in person for the first time. Ah, the wonders of the internet.
I think one of my greater regrets from my time in Japan was not having ever gone to a Comiket despite living only an hour away.
Anyway, have fun and be sure to take lots of awesome pictures of cute cosplayers! ;D
Sounds fun, hope the trip goes well. ‘Wierd and hilarious’ destinations, eh?
They hold Comiket in Odaiba?! -_- Sorta doesn’t make sense given the image. Makuhari would have made more sense…
I imagine the realy small trains going around Odaiba will be horribly crowded then.
Lemme guess, you wanna meet Danny Choo?
Nakano, eh? I actually think it’d be much better if you’d go to Nagano (prefecture) instead. Ah, why do all tourists ALWAYS pick Tokyo, Kyoto and Nara as holiday destinations?
I’ve been to Nagano and it was boring.
Have fun. And you get to spend Xmas in Japan. Lucky you =)
Temperatures in Tokyo are lingering in the 0 to 5 degrees range, so bring a good coat.
Its also a good idea to make a really quick beeline for the customs check once you get off the plane as the new fingerprinting system is in effect and its really, really slow.
“weird and hilarious destinations but it’s all top secret kinsoku jikou until (and if) it actually happens.”
you’re talking about the soap parlors here aren’t you? ^^
Don’t forget to buy us all something you lucky eroboy =P
I want a nice selection of dakimakuras so I can hang them all outside and show my neighbours what a good boy I am.
I don’t expect anyone to reply to this in time (I’m leaving Japan in 2 days), but is the Prison-themed restaurant, “The Lock-up” at Shibuya worth a visit?
@quendidil: err it has a branch in Shibuya?! o.O I went to the one in Shinjuku. The food is ok (American-style) and the theme is like you’re in a dungeon complete with chains and stuff. (They actually require that at least one from your party be handcuffed before bringing you to your room).
Randomly, they have this event where you hear these sounds like there’s a monster attack outside your room (its very anime-ish… think Eva during an Angel attack) complete with lights going out etc. The “monster” even enters your room and attacks you.
It’s pretty fun, I guess. You should try the umm… crap I forgot the name. Bakudan-something… it’s the takoyaki where one of the balls is insanely spicy. It’s basically takoyaki russian roulette.
haf fun there
Bon Voyage!

Christmas in Japan!
If only the average otaku could enjoy such a privilege… X'(
Woo! Christmas and Comiket is probably one of the best ways to enjoy Japan. So, bon voyage then!
