Everything is just fine
Shit hits the fan. Big time. This is not your usual run-of-the-mill rotary cooling device-feces collision; it’s more like if Godzilla takes the mother of all dump on an Airbus A380’s Engine Alliance GP7000 turbofan jet engine, while you, the unfortunate witness, are standing literally five metres away minding your own business one moment and covered with radioactive lizard waste the next.
That said, it is a pretty good episode. The emo level is higher than 9000 pale teenagers simultaneously slitting their wrists the wrong way.
Summary
There’s actually nothing much to summarize in this episode. I mean, nothing of great importance really happens.

Except maybe for the tiny unimportant fact that everyone in the Black Knights now knows that Lelouch is a Britannian prince who had been using them as pawns in a giant game of chess, and that Lelouch is is clearly cheating because no one, not even the king of Britannia who invented the damn game, is allowed to have that many pawns in chess.
And oh yes, Rolo finally dies. But now that he is dead, I sort of miss him. I mean, he was the most annoying character in the entire show, but he did save Lelouch. Also he killed Shirley, which is a job well done in my book. Now that C.C. is somewhat out of the picture with her memory loss and Nunnally has apparently bitten the dust, Kallen is home free! You go girl!
Kallen, it’s your turn to shine!
I digress. Yeah, Rolo is dead. Oh well. The way he died sort of makes up for all his past annoyance, so I do feel kind of sad now. But it’s okay. He will live on in our memories and yaoi doujinshi.

This episode is seriously good. Lelouch has finally fulfilled the prophecy of the power of Geass and lost everything that is important to him. As I’ve said before, Lelouch loses the most when he tries to be good. If he were completely ruthless and evil, he’d have taken over the world three times over by now with his Geass. It’s this alternating between heartless bastard and self-sacrificing nice guy that messes up all his plans.
Let’s see what he has lost so far…
Nunnally is either dead or trapped in an alternate universe where she is probably being thoroughly violated by sixth dimensional tentacle beings.
Lelouch can take C.C. and open up a maid cafe
C.C. has lost her tsundere personality and is more like a submissive pet now. Lelouch is deeply masochistic and therefore cannot possibly love someone who doesn’t spend all her time putting him down.
Shirley is dead and given a proper burial so that she cannot ever rise from the dead Sunrise style. Good grief.

The Black Knights, a bunch of mindless drones who will believe anything, have turned against Zero in a blink of an eye without much serious consideration.
What Lelouch has left:
His life. This is an important thing because without it he pretty much can’t survive.
His campy outfit. It gives him stat boosts, which will be crucial when he has to both tank and heal while fighting the final instance boss.
Jeremiah and maybe Suzaku if he doesn’t turn batshit crazy. Woot yaoi fan fiction.

I really didnt like this episode alot.
Not much action and wtf the BlackKnights can turn on someone who helped them for so long in just an INSTANT.

I got the idea of a 26th episode off someone on this blog, go check episode 18’s comments. I don’t know if it’s true but it would be nice if they did have one. By the way, they aired the 24-25th episodes of r1 4 months after the 23rd, so its entirely possible to have another time slot, or they may get a new one. Who knows, I’m just running with possibilities.
Let me recorrect you. “Slaying the Gods” was apparently used as a metaphor, which was said by General Bartley in episode…12 I think. Which means when they say it but don’t mean gods, they are referring to those who make men fight amongst themselves though I don’t doubt that whatever this Ragnarok does. I bet it will try to live up to it’s name (i.e. world destruction and rebirth).
Also, the only web searching I did was once on Wikipedia (where nothing turned up) and once on google. Also, if what your saying is true, then how does that mythological name tie in with the story and why would they name a cannon that kills gods after a saint, or even a saint’s spear? Everything else in the story that uses a mythy name has a reason to it.
The student is only as good as the teacher, as such in this case, I know only as much as what I find in online searches.
Also, Nunnally and Sayoko could very well be dead from stage one or two, that ever occur to you? However, there is very little evidence to go on other than the official website declaring she’s dead. We just have to wait it out and hope to god she’s actually dead.

Dramatic effect is all I can say about the Mordred. It’s too minor to make any real fuss about it.
Diethard could at least try to alleviate some of the blame on him though, I doubt the others would lynch him for defending their leader…it just seems to me that someone who was dedicated towards making Zero a god (yes I got the actual meaning behind that, the writers were implying that Lelouch was one of the gods V.V. and Charles were out to kill) gave him up too easily. Well whatever.
No proof about V.V. teleporting…just dramatic effect in my eyes, in any case, there has been no proof of that ability in any episode so far since V.V. first appeared (single frame flash right before they were hit with the Gawain’s hadron cannons) and they haven’t mentioned it ONCE in the story.
The whiskey, darts and penguins are probably because the Black Knights are relaxing and thinking about what they did, so they decide to play some games to pass the time while they reflect on Zero. It’s just that kind of episode I guess.
As for Anya, it’s NOT a flashback, she has a bluetooth headset on, unless those were in style 9 years ago when she was (possibly) geassed. Also she looked entirely the same (which may or may not be true) and she obviously wasn’t a Knight of Rounds at 6 years old. However it could be phony, someone opening their eyes and having a red outline around is easily faked, but it makes sense plot-wise. I mean, he has to crawl his way out of having nothing, he’s got to geass people to be able to get at the emperor.

The difference is because r1 was mostly action and tactics with a small side of geass, SuzakuxEuphemia romance, and some kinky Mao episodes. R2 started out the same way as r1, but it melded itself more into a geass-based storyline and focuses alot on Lelouch’s emotional developments and how god seems to want to fuck with his emotions.

Wasn’t the way that V.V. teleported everyone to the island in the 1st season by using the thought elevator(or whatever it is called) on the island.
Also I remember around the middle of season 2 lelouch realizes that he not only has to try to protect his sister, but also all of his friends. So I don’t think he has lossed everything. I think that after Rolo saved him, lelouch realizes that there are others that really care about him. Like in the preview for the next episode it shows his friend trying to call him to figure out what happened to him.

Out of curiosity, how accurate are Korean spoilers?
It strikes me as odd that the Black Knights turned on Zero so quickly, i mean naturally any information about the one leading your rebellion and coming up with battle plans can be trusted…. when given to you by a) the ones your fighting against, b) who crushed your whole society, c) kills you for their own enjoyment. I mean, thats loyalty when your enermy commands more respect amongst your own troops than you do!!
On a side note, doesn’t Zeros knightmare have both a keyboard interface and the standard controls? I mean Rolo was struggling with the shields and keyboard controls but hes a better pilot than most when using normal controls…. or was that just a sunrise plot hole i stepped into? :o)

aaah dodging spoilers is fun!!! i’m willing to bet that Anya is the first one to find Lelouch, she has another memory spike thing…and Lelouch Geasses her….she obviously has some familial/close friend connection with him and Marianne and Nunnally….someone’s probably said this before, but it’s possible that Anya is Lelouch’s sister/cousin/fiancé and she found something important out, and Charles somehow made her kill Marianne….and he Geass’d away her memories…..but idk, just speculation, can’t wait till next week!!!

There is no connection between the Avalon from the myth and schneizels airship, so no there isnt a reason behind every myth name in geass.
ah and the last two eps of S1 beeing aired later than the rest of the series was afaik because they wasted two slots for recap episodes because they were beeing slowpokes.

@Murasame: Yes, from the very start their relationship has been like that, Charles’ provocations pushing Lelouch into action. To Charles everything seems like a game and that’s why, in my opinion, he kept Lelouch’s identity secret. I mean if he wanted to break up the Black Knight, he would’ve done what Schneizel did this ep. Now he prolonged the game with Lulu. And after he became immortal Lelouch is the only real threat to him (if Lelouch manages to master his geass that is). More fun for Charles, passing time (now he has a lot of that on his hands).
@SonicSP: lolz. Which part of Anya makes her look like Nunnally’s twin? That goes for the theory of her being Marianne’s clone as well. But, being an illegitimate kid of the emperor, that might actually be…she’s got the eyes and hair after all. C.C.’s? O_o Just kidding!

I keep thinking poor C.C.! She has some kind of soul link to master Lelouch, so she immediately knew she had been left behind. T_T
After all, C.C.’s goal was never really to have some Geass user (Mao, Lelouch or Charles) master his geass so she could finally get some eternal sleep (not in my book), but to get some sweet luv (the real thing, not through the use of her own geass) from Lelouch (preferably). When will that ever get through to Lulu? >_> Well, at least Lulu told Kallen about C.C.’s memory loss, otherwise she might be up for a rough time with the Black Knight now (I remember them calling her Zero’s concubine, or something or the other, at one point in the story, prob during season 1). And right now, she doesn’t do much other than being extremely moe. They might throw her out just out of good measure (if not Kallen saves her).

Also, I too will admit that although I had eagerly awaited Rolo’s death, when it actually happened it wasn’t as satisfying as I hoped. I suppose Sunrise managed to make clear – without seeming unrealisitc and forced – that Rolo just didn’t have the right morals and sense of thinking to begin with. Plus, Lelouch’s words in the preview – that Rolo was Lelouch Lamperouge’s brother – made perfect sense. The brother Rolo was clinging to wasn’t really real after all, but at the same time it wasn’t a fake relationship. Wow, I’m not sure I’m making sense…

After looking at episode 11 again when the knightmare first appeared, in the shots of zero talking before he starts fighting… there seem to be more conventional controls before he starts to use the keyboard system. Thinking about it, until they openly attack him the keyboards are not in use… so ho did he pilot the thing to get it in place?
meh… its not important really. :o)
It’s possible movement is(can be?) handled with conventional controls, but the weapons systems, transformation and the Absolute Protection Field needs to be calibrated via keyboard (Rolo states calculations are needed).
Either that or my favourite ally Dramatic Effect makes a return of blazing glory.

I’m most definetly calling shenanigans on the first part of that. Nunnally, a spy? *Really*? I mean, it’s so ridiculous that it’s silly. Let’s pick the blind, crippled girl who already knows everything Charles does to spy for him. What was Nunnally meant to spy on? Charles knew Lelouch was Zero from day 1 (well, maybe day 3) after he “Talked to Clovis” after he died. Was she meant to spy on…Suzaku? No, cos Schneizel had that covered. Miss Romeyer? Not nearly an important enough character. Nevermind the fact that Nunnally’s character would go completely against the whole spy thing. Ridiculous.
Suzaku dying? Eh, maybe. Only want him to die if it’s a *good* death. The whole Survive geass makes me think he’s not going anywhere though. That and he’s getting the latest and greatest in mecha in the coming episodes.

Not too much else to respond to…holy crap…now I can talk theory!
That Korean spoiler is obviously fake, which I stated before (actually my entire first response to this article was dedicated towards me yelling at waffles), anyways, some parts can be adapted to serve as liable theories, and I really don’t have anything else to say anyways.
1) Anya being geassed to have some sort of hidden relationship to Lelouch. She isn’t a noble (as far as I know) so it’s unlikely she is his former fiance. I’m sticking with the sister one. Also, note that the second memory lapse isn’t shown, so they might go back to cover it in the next couple of episodes. Too little proof, too much speculation. We really don’t know how Anya ties in with the story. I’d really like to believe she’s his actual sister, but just KNOWING Sunrise, they might be just building up alot of suspense for nothing (ex. Jeremiah).
2) A soul cannon named Loginus to kill the gods…NOT. I swear, that is probably the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard from spoilers.
3) Suzaku IS going to go insane, but knowing him, he’s gonna blame it on the WRONG person (i.e. Lelouch, his eternal source of problems). So chances are, when Schniezel finally betrays the Black Knights, he’s going to start slaughtering those Japanese bastards.
4) The death of C.C!…hell no. I like C.C. too much! Now that she has the slave mentality back, chances are she won’t be dying, because she ain’t a main character anymore! I hope. LelouchxC.C. Anyone? [sandslayer sighs, realizing that Sunrise just really hates him and has already killed off many of his favourite bit characters like David, Guildford, Bartley and Darlton. He decides his only hope left is to put all his faith in C.C. and hope for the best]
