Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora OP – Aoi Koufuku

Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora

This song came up in my playlist shuffle today and I suddenly felt like translating it. Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora is a story of love and hope about a girl who suffers from a terminal illness. The lyrics of the OP song to the OVA do a good job of conveying the bittersweet feel of the story.

Blue Happiness
Vocal: nobuko

The pale street, my swaying shadow,
I walk slowly, not knowing my destination.
My feelings can’t reach yours.

The things reflected in the depths of your eyes,
I started running in order to catch up to them.
I grip your outstretched hand without letting go.

On this night, the half moon shines upon us.
I shake off the flow of time chasing after us.
Though we are both half incomplete, we should be able to draw our future.

Your hair sways under the blue sky.
In order to mend your unsewn heart,
Let’s realize our feelings.

I wonder what the next page holds as I turn it.
You threw me just a hint of a smile.
I keep rereading this swirl of overflowing words.

On this night, the half moon shines upon tomorrow.
I kick about the darkness that stretches into the distance.
Under the half moon, we start to walk without stopping. Lalala…

On this night, the half moon shines upon us.
I shake off the flow of time chasing after us.
Though we are both half incomplete, we should be able to draw our future.

*sniff* ;_;

P.S. I wonder who the vocalist, nobuko, really is…

Very cool, thanks for the translation. I love both the OP and ED to HanTsuki, especially the ED song.

  2. bakavic says:

Yup, the OP is especially catchy – in fact, I liked the song when I heard it in the anime promo.

Really wished that the anime was better though. Heard that it doesn’t quite do the novels justice (understandable; try cramming 5 or so novels in 6 episodes). I guess I’ll just have to wait for someone to translate it from moon-man language to something I understand…

oh ya, somebody on animesuki posted up a link to nobuko’s blog – http://nobustar.exblog.jp/

it’s really nice… but in the show… i have mixed feelings with the guy cause…. he’s an inconsiderate freak….! but the beautifulness of the song has nothing to do with the show…. it’s really noce..

  4. You either did a great job translating, or this is a wonderful poem even without words, and I’m not usually impressed with lyrics. Pretty good voice that just might grow on you, kind of like a subtler, more charming form of Celine Dion.

  5. These are beautiful lyrics. Thanks so much for translating it for us. I have always been one to enjoy the words more then the actual music.
